About VanU FC
History of our Club
Vancouver United Football Club (VanU) was founded in 2010 as a result of joining three long-standing west side Vancouver clubs – Dunbar Soccer Association, Kerrisdale Soccer Club, and Point Grey Soccer Association. The founding clubs go back to the late 1950’s, and VanU inherited from these clubs a long tradition of strongly engaged players and teams, community involvement, supportive families, and a large number of volunteers.
VanU is one of the largest soccer clubs in the Lower Mainland with approximately 2800 boys and girls from the ages of three to 17 playing at the U4 to U18 levels. The club also hosts several men’s and women’s teams playing in their respective adult leagues.
Our mission
Our club’s motto is Game, Club, Community. Three words that we live by each and every day as we continue our mission to raise up the game of soccer both within our club and within the community we live and play in. Because if our community thrives, so do we.
More about the club
While we’re mostly based around the west side of Vancouver, including hosting practices and home games at turf fields such as UBC, Jericho, Point Grey Secondary, and UHill Secondary. We also have programs at South Memorial Turf, Hillcrest Turf and use grass fields at numerous local schools and parks across the city as we strive to expand the accessibility for local kids to play the beautiful game.
Vancouver United is also proud to be a CSA National Youth Club License holder, Canada Soccer’s highest amateur club designation under its Club Licensing Program. We are the only Vancouver based club to have this license. The Club Licensing Program is designed to guide member organizations throughout the country toward best principles for organizational development both on and off the field.
In addition to this designation, VanU has achieved the BC Soccer Club Charter Program Standard 1.
Our club is the result of over 500 volunteers (team coaches and managers, age group coordinators, and Board Members) operating together to ensure our players and families have a positive and memorable experience during their time in youth soccer.
We are excited to continue to grow through our core values. Our motto is more than just that, it’s a statement of intent as we look to build up the Game of soccer, build up our Club, and build up our local Community.
